Choosing to study in the UK, whether with us or somewhere else, is one of the most important decisions you can make. To support with this decision, some students consider using the services of an education agent when applying to us. 

Education agents provide a range of services to support you - from identifying the right university and course to guiding you through the application and enrolment process. They can also assist with visa applications, travel, and accommodation arrangements. 

Our representatives have been carefully selected and are official University of Sheffield representatives. They have been provided with information and guidance on our courses and entry requirements, as well as the wider University and city. They can advise you throughout your application journey and can help you make an informed decision about studying with us.

As an institution, we are committed to the  and pledge to create and maintain the highest standards of agent management, ensuring the UK remains a leading study destination for international students.

If you are considering using an education agent, we recommend reading the  — an important part of the UK Agent Quality Framework (AQF). 

The guide provides you and your family with clear information and guidance on what you should look for when considering using an agent. It includes key questions to ask, signs of quality, and how to avoid poor practices. The guide also links to ‘The national code of ethical practice for UK education agents’ and the British Council’s UK database of certified counsellors. 

The University of Sheffield pays commission to agents if you enrol at our institution after using their services. Your chances of being accepted for a course are not affected if you use the services of an agent.

Some agents charge students a counselling fee and we strongly recommend that you clarify all costs with your agent in advance. You should also check whether an agent is authorised to represent the University of Sheffield. Our agents sometimes work with other agents (often referred to as sub-agents). We do not have contracts with sub-agents and cannot offer them the same level of assistance.

You should always pay any deposit or tuition fee payments for your course directly to the University, and never to or via an agent.
