The Sheffield International Summer School is designed for inbound students not currently registered on full degree programmes at the University of Sheffield. Experience studying in the UK with our short-term, two week programme designed for international students.

Entry requirements
Academic requirements
Applicants must be registered at another university and be achieving an equivalent of UK 2:2 (50%) or US GPA 2.7. Current first year students who do not yet have grades should provide a transcript confirming the modules they're enrolled on and an academic reference.
All students will need to provide an up to date transcript as part of the application.
Some subject pathways have additional academic requirements:

English language requirements
Students from majority English speaking countries do not need to provide an official English language qualification but must upload their most recent university transcript to confirm they are studying in English.
Students not from a must be able to provide evidence of having English language at the following level: IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.
You must provide a test result from our list of with your application.
In addition to the list linked above, we can accept the College English Test 6 with a score of 425 for students coming from Chinese universities provided it was taken within 2 years of applying. We will also accept the Duolingo English test with an overall score of 105 (95 in each component).
Students from exchange partner universities can get confirmation from their home university of their English language level if they have been nominated by the university. If you cannot be nominated by your home university, you will need to provide evidence of English language.
Fees - summer 2026
The tuition fee for our summer 2026 programmes is £2,250. We also offer two separate early bird and partnership discounts of £150 each.
Early bird fees (for applications received by 13 April 2026):
- Partner rate: £1,950 (including early bird and partner discount worth £300)
 - Standard rate: £2,100 (including early bird discount worth £150)
 
Standard fees (for applications received from 14 April - 11 May 2026):
- Partner rate: £2,100 (including partner discount worth £150)
 - Standard rate: £2,250
 
Our partner discount is available to students currently studying at one of the University of Sheffield's partner universities, and to organised group bookings of 5 students or more. Please contact us at summer@sheffield.ac.uk for further details.
Our summer school fees include:
- tuition
 - accommodation
 - field trips and excursions
 - a daily £5 food / drink voucher redeemable at our campus cafes
 - optional airport pick-up from Manchester Airport
 - a range of organised daily social events and activities
 - fitness membership and gym access.
 
How to apply
Applications for our 2026 International Summer School will open soon.
To apply for the Sheffield International Summer School you will need to provide the following documents:
- A recent transcript of studies from your current university. This should show the programme you are currently studying, including courses (modules) taken to date and any available grades
 - Evidence of your English language proficiency (not required from students from majority English speaking countries)

After you receive your offer, you will be required to pay a £400 deposit within four weeks (or by 31 May 2026, whichever is earlier) in order to secure your place.
We will aim to hold a place on the programme for offer holders who have not paid their deposit within four weeks of receiving an offer, however if you are unable to pay your deposit within this period you will be at risk of losing your place to another student.

The University of Sheffield reserves the right to cancel the summer school for reasons including, but not restricted to, low enrolment numbers and teacher availability. In such instances, participants will be informed by email. Please bear this in mind when making travel arrangements. Any expenses made other than summer school fee (and deposit), will not be reimbursed.
Visa information
Most students entering the UK for less than six months can enter using a Visitor Visa (as opposed to a Student Visa), if you're a non-visa national, you don't need a Visitor visa before traveling but may need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) View our guidance and information on visitor and short term visas.
