We’re committed to progressing gender equality across the University. This page lists some of our key areas of focus over the coming months.

Gender Equality Action Plan

Our Gender Equality Action Plan consolidates and progresses our work so far and responds to what our communities tell us matters to them and what they need.

The Action Plan has five overarching priorities - external engagement; inclusive data; inclusive recruitment; culture and environment; progression, promotion and career support.

These priorities were agreed following analysis by a self-assessment team who looked at staff and student data and qualitative feedback, such as the University staff survey, allowing us to better understand our culture and priorities for gender equality.

Gender pay gap

Our vision for the University of Sheffield includes a commitment to deliver life-enhancing research, innovation and education that not only transforms the lives of our graduates but shapes the world we live in.

We believe the best way to achieve this is by fostering an ambitious, inclusive, collaborative community. We continue to identify and tackle patterns of inequality to ensure that staff and students can achieve their full potential and these commitments are at the heart of our ambition to eliminate our Gender Pay Gap.
