New project will examine the cultural influences, practices and implications of cancer predictive genetics for women's health

"New Genetics, Same Old Surgeries? Cancer Risk, Personalised Medicine and Women’s Health (NeGen-SOS)" is an ESRC funded project focused on women with an increased risk of gynaecological cancer.

, with , and will explore cultural influences, practices and implications of cancer predictive genetics for women's health, with a focus on individuals with an increased risk of gynaecological cancer.  The project’s core aim is to shape more inclusive discourses and practices of gynaecological cancer prevention.

The project is in partnership with leading gynaecological cancer charities  and  and hereditary cancer patient organisations and The Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline. It is guided by an advisory board that brings together patients, health professionals and advocates: ,, ,,, , and . 

The project will start in January 2026 and run for 39 months.
