- Profile
-
I joined the Health Economics and Decision Science (HEDS) group in October 2018 as a modeller, following a postdoctoral fellowship at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization, and the completion of a PhD at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, School of Health Policy and Management (2015).
My journey into academia followed a seven-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, where I held leadership positions at several global companies, including Janssen-Cilag, Merck, and Sanofi.
At HEDS, I specialise in public health modelling, with a particular focus on the evaluation of prevention and early detection programmes. My areas of interest include cancer, genetic testing, and the exploration of health inequalities. Throughout my research career, I have contributed to the development of several key methodological documents, including leading the ISPOR Task Force on Critical Appraisal of Systematic Reviews With Costs and Cost-Effectiveness Outcomes. I have also contributed to major international evidence synthesis initiatives, such as the IARC Handbooks of Cancer Prevention, Volume 19 on Oral Cancer Prevention.
Currently, I serve as co-Director of the SENSS Evidence Synthesis Group of SCHARR, funded by the NIHR. In this role, I support work aligned with the objectives of the UK National Screening Committee and the NIHR.
