ESRC funding commences on 1st October each academic year. Applicants wishing to apply for an ESRC WRDTP studentship must select a start date of 1st October 2026. This will enable you to gain access to an additional Scholarships portal of the online application form which includes an attachment to the ESRC WRDTP application.

Please ensure that you observe the word limits for each field. Where any field exceeds the word count, the applicant will be excluded from the competition. The word count is strictly enforced, with no lee way and the WRDTP will reject over-length applications outright.
The WRDTP application should only be accessed via the online portal as it is the most up to date version of the form. Forms from prior application rounds must not be recycled.
The White Rose DTP application deadline is Wednesday 17:00, 21 January 2026 GMT.
