- Profile
-
I did my undergraduate studies in Physics in Milan, and I got my PhD in Mathematical Physics at SISSA, Trieste in 2009 under the supervision of Boris Dubrovin and Alessandro Tanzini. I then spent time as a postdoc at the University of Geneva (2009-11), and later at Imperial College London (Marie Curie Fellow, 2011-13).
I obtained a CNRS permanent research post based at the University of Montpellier in 2013, and held visiting research positions again at Imperial College (2016-18) and MSRI Berkeley (2018), following which I took up an academic post in Birmingham in 2018. I joined the University of Sheffield in 2019, on leave from CNRS.

- Research interests
-
My research field lies at the intersection of Geometry and Mathematical Physics. I work on the mathematical aspects of String Theory and their interface with Integrable Systems and Algebraic Geometry. My main research topics are the theory of topological strings and Gromov-Witten theory, with emphasis on their connections to gauge theory, matrix models, integrable systems, and other moduli space problems.
I'm a member of the Sheffield group.
