After obtaining a PhD in jetstream variability (University of Sheffield), Richard worked as a research associate at the University of Lincoln (North Atlantic climate variability and seasonal forecasting), the University of Bristol (understanding the impacts of Sudden Stratospheric Warmings) and Imperial College London (Oyashio front variability and the atmospheric response), before returning to Sheffield to investigate Antarctic climate change. 

Research interests

Antarctic climate change with a focus on the Amundsen Sea region, North Atlantic climate variability, seasonal forecasting.
