TRICEPS stroke trial reaches major milestone with 200th patient recruited

The study is testing a non-invasive form of vagus nerve stimulation: a wearable device that delivers mild electrical pulses through the skin during rehabilitation to help improve hand and arm weakness after stroke.

The £2 million TRICEPS trial, led by the University of Sheffield/CTRU and Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, could provide a low-cost, accessible alternative to surgically implanted stimulators, offering a new hope for the one in three stroke survivors who live with permanent arm and hand weakness.
